Okay, no more screwing around.New 24 Ton Hydraulic Press
I used to make my damascus by hand. Take a look at the small damscus hunter and dagger at the bottom of the page. The billet of I made for those two blades took me a couple of weeks to forge by hand.
What I really want to do is to make damascus swords and larger blades. Something like this: http://forums.dfoggknives.com/index.php?showtopic=11488&hl=multi
To produce that volume of damascus, you need a hydraulic press. A few weeks ago, I ordered the press on the right from Tommy McNabb. It's a 24 Ton press that will fit in my garage.
Here's a link to a video of a great bladesmith, Daniel Gentile, using a hydraulic press to squish some steel. It's unbelievable. http://www.ferrumdg.com/ferrum/index.php/The40-tonhydraulicforgingpress.html
New Forge Too!I also just ordered the forge on the left from Chile Forge. Check out http://www.chileforge.com/ for a video of this thing in action.
My current farrier's forge (see my equipment page) get about a 3" section of steel hot enough for welding at a time. Watch the video. Holy. Crap.
I can't wait to get these things cranking in the shop.
Muhahahahaah!
