Falcon Handle Damascus Persian

I took a break from the collab project I'm working on with the gents from Mad Dwarf to finish this one.

This is only my second attempt at carving. Not much really, mostly just some grooves carved in with a round burr on the Foredom then cleaned up with needle riffler files.

This is a fairly low layer count blade of 1095 and 15n20. I don't really remember how many layers it has since this one was forged and laying on the "to finish" table for a few months, but I think it's around 64 or so layers.

Handle is of ironwood.

This design is an amalgam of two designs I shared a few months ago.

#1 -- (Wasn't happy with the handle)

#2 -- (Scroll to the bottom to see design . . . Thought the whole thing was too short).

So, I took the blade shape of the first one, minus the "notches" and added the falcon handle of the second one.

The handle still needs a few more coats of oil, so some of the grain is still visible.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it.

Okay, now I'm going back to the Viking sword project. Honest. I'm on it.

Grins,

Dave
